Gallagher baffled by new chart system

Noel Gallagher is convinced the music industry has become more complicated in recent years as he now struggles to understand the modern chart system.

The former Oasis star can't work out why digital singles have a different release date to physical copies, and insists the new way of logging sales is overly confusing.

He tells the NME, "It's f**ked now. Some of us are old enough to remember Top Of The Pops and The Chart Show. If you headlined Top Of The Pops you were f**king number one and the world was alright and everyone knew their place.

"The charts are insane at the moment, the way people sell music is insane. (My new single) is out, but it's not actually out. You can buy it but you can't buy it. It's at Number 20 in the charts but it's not actually been released. I don't understand why. (Someone told me) 'We release it two weeks after its been released now'. Well, who is 'we'? And why do 'we' do that? It doesn't make any sense to me."
